What a ringing endorsement.
Party leaders abhor this idea, but Washington state voters clearly love it. They voted overwhelmingly to adopt the system, and in Tuesday's otherwise ho-hum primary they turned out by the biggest percentage since 1972 when the electorate was enflamed over the Vietnam War.Washington state voters clearly love it? Well, it did pass by a nearly 60-40 margin (in 2004), but that big percentage of yesterday's vote? About a quarter of voters -- 27.3 percent.
What a ringing endorsement.
